Site Description
Sana'a International Airport has been under Houthi (Ansar Allah) military control since the group seized the Yemeni capital in late 2014–early 2015. The facility has functioned as a primary Houthi military logistics and command node throughout the Yemen conflict. It has been struck by Saudi-led coalition and US airstrikes on multiple occasions targeting Houthi military infrastructure. The airport runway and terminal infrastructure have sustained damage and been repaired across multiple cycles documented in archival imagery. The facility provides Houthi forces with limited airlift capability and serves as a hub for military materiel transfer. Proximity to Houthi political and military command facilities in central Sana'a makes the airport a persistent high-priority intelligence monitoring location.
